Frequently Asked Questions

ECU, airbag, electrical and diesel repair in Saskatoon.

Common Questions

What does Sask ECU & Airbag Services do?

We are a Saskatoon diagnostics and module shop. We repair, program and clone ECUs, TCUs and airbag modules, fix airbag and electrical faults, program keys, repair instrument clusters, and diagnose diesel and emissions problems.

Where are you located and what are your hours?

501 46th Street East, Office #4a, Saskatoon, SK S7K 0W8. Monday to Friday 10:30am to 5:30pm, Saturday 11am to 5pm, closed Sunday.

Do I need an appointment?

Call +1 639-477-2030 first so we can confirm we have the right tools and parts for your vehicle.

Can I install a used ECU from a salvage vehicle?

Usually not by just plugging it in. The used ECU still holds the donor vehicle's VIN, immobilizer data and sometimes mileage, so the car may crank but not start. Cloning copies your original ECU's data onto the replacement so it works with your keys and other modules.

What is the difference between ECU cloning and ECU programming?

Programming loads software or a calibration onto a module. Cloning copies the full data from your original unit — VIN, immobilizer and adaptation data — onto an identical replacement unit so the car treats it as the original.

Do I need a new airbag module after an accident?

Often not. After a deployment the module stores crash data and locks itself. In many vehicles the original module can be reset and reused once the deployed parts are replaced, which costs much less than a new module.

Why is my airbag light still on after the bodywork was finished?

Common causes are stored crash data in the module, a deployed seatbelt pretensioner, a damaged impact sensor or a wiring fault in the seat or steering wheel. We read the fault codes and test the circuit to find which one it is.

Why does my diesel truck keep going into limp mode with a DPF light?

A DPF that cannot finish a regeneration fills with soot until the engine computer limits power to protect itself. The cause is usually upstream: a failed differential pressure sensor, an exhaust temperature sensor, a leaking injector, a boost leak or a sticking EGR valve. We find that cause first, because cleaning the filter without fixing it means the light comes back.

Can you clean a DPF instead of replacing it?

Often, yes. If the filter is loaded with soot or ash but not cracked or melted, a forced regeneration or an off-vehicle cleaning can restore it. We test the filter and its sensors before recommending cleaning or replacement.

Do you do DPF or EGR deletes?

No. Removing or disabling emissions equipment is illegal in Canada. We repair, clean and replace emissions components so the truck runs properly and stays legal.
